Job Summary
The Faculty of Education invites applications for a tenure-track probationary appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of Aboriginal Studies and Aboriginal Education. The appointment, subject to final budgetary approval, will commence January 1, 2015.
The successful candidate will be appointed to the Tecumseh Centre for Aboriginal Research and Education. S/he will be expected to take a leadership role in the undergraduate Aboriginal Studies program, as well as teach courses in programs affiliated with the Department of Graduate and Undergraduate Studies in Education, and supervise graduate student research.
Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following: An earned doctorate in Aboriginal studies, education or equivalent (ABD candidates will be considered); excellence in teaching; excellent command of English; extensive personal background and knowledge of Aboriginal culture and language issues; and knowledge of Aboriginal history and educational policy. Evidence of a strong commitment to scholarly research and publication i s also important; in this regard, the conduct of culturally sensitive research on issues of importance First Nations, Inuit and Metis is essential.
