Yekooche First Nation is seeking an Intermediate Teacher who is energetic, enthusiastic, enjoys challenges, and who can join our team to deliver quality educational programming to students of the Yekooche First Nation. The Jean Marie Joseph School is located in the community of Yekooche on beautiful Stuart Lake in central British Columbia, an hour drive from Fort St. James.

Community Description

Yekooche First Nation is located in central British Columbia, approximately 80 km from Fort St. James, nestled between Stuart and Babine Lakes. Outdoor opportunities include fishing, hiking, kayaking, quading, skiing, snowmobiling, etc.

Yekooche First Nation has a population of approximately 200 on and off reserve members. The Community has a Band Office, Public Works, School, Health Clinic, and approximately 33 homes and 9 staff units. The Finance Office is located in Prince George.

  • DIBELS and Saxon Math
  • Professional Learning Communities

  • The ability to plan and work with IEP’s for students
  • Special Education experience would be and asset
  • A demonstrated commitment to children and the flexibility to work cooperatively with parents, students, colleagues, administrative and support staff
  • A high degree of flexibility and proven interpersonal skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a clear criminal record check

Job – Sessional Assistant Lecturer Math Education, York University

The Faculty of Education at York University invites applications for a two-year Contractually Limited Appointment (teaching) position in Mathematics Education at the rank of Sessional Assistant Lecturer to commence July 1, 2015. The successful candidate will teach courses and develop curriculum in both undergraduate (including methods courses) and graduate mathematics education in the Faculty of Education and be able to participate in professional development programming. Contributions that build upon the Faculty’s ongoing collaborations in the area of mathematics education within the University and beyond will be an asset.Applicants should have completed a doctorate, provide documented evidence of excellence in teaching, and have knowledge of mathematics content and pedagogy as reflected in the Ontario curriculum. A record of publishing in academic or professional journals, or/and speaking at professional or academic conferences, in the area of mathematics education, is highly desirable.

Tl’etinqox School – 2 full-time teachers needed ASAP:

Tl’etinqox School is a Band-Operated School located on Tl’etinqox Reserve, 110 km West of Williams Lake. Our school meets BC provincial curriculum requirements, and offers programming from Nursery to Grade 8. We strive to provide a caring, nurturing environment that focuses on success through the implementation of individualized instruction experiential learning opportunities, language, culture, and family/community involvement.

Position Summary:
The focus of this position will be specific subjects within the upper intermediate to middle school grades, providing time for current staff to offer special education services, or to offer special education services. Subjects taught will depend on the skills and preferences of the successful applicant. Although exact schedule is to be determined, it is anticipated that a minimum of 3 days per week will be required. Anticipated start date is as soon as possible. Salary as per Tl’etinqox Teacher Salary Grid.

Qualifications:
Bachelor of Education Degree, and current certification by the Teacher Regulation Branch
Criminal Record Check
Valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance. Own reliable transportation is preferred.
Possess knowledge of the needs, interests, issues, and the social and economic condition of the Tl’etinqox community
Accountability/Authority:
The teacher reports to the School Principal
Probation Period: 3 months from the start date of employment
